The metering level is divided according to the boundary of the water meter and the size of the minimum flow, which indicates the sensitivity of the water meter. The old regulations are classified according to A, B, C, and D, and the D level has the highest requirements. The new regulation replaces the original measurement level with a turndown ratio (Q3/Q1). The ratio has at least 20 options. The ratio is larger, then the requirements are higher and the manufacturing is more difficult. The value of Q3, Q3/Q1 of the water meter is determined by the manufacturer according to the market demand and must be clearly marked on the water meter. When the water meter is verified, the flow point can be selected according to the value marked on the water meter.
According to international standards, the civil water meter is grade 2, and the error is from ±2% to ±5%. According to the old standard habits, the measurement level of the 2-level water meter is divided into A, B, C, and D from low to high. Among them, A-level water meters tend to be eliminated. B-level water meters are equivalent to the new standard R=80 water meters. C-level water meters are equivalent to R=160 water meters. And D-level water meters are equivalent to R=200 water meters.
Using a water meter with a high level of measurement can make the water meter work in a large flow range including micro flow, and fundamentally improve the sensitivity and measurement capability of the water meter. The measurement level of piston type water meter (also known as volumetric water meter) can generally reach C or D level, but it has higher requirements on water quality.
Note: Most countries in the world require the use of water meters with a measurement level of B or higher, and there are also calls to cancel water meters with a measurement level of * in the domestic industry.
In the new international standards and international recommendations for water meters drawn up again, flow-meters that work based on electromagnetic or electronic principles and are used to measure water are also included in water meters.
