As the temperature drops, the water meter frozen appears in the home. What are some tips to alleviate the situation? Experts from the water company recommend several practical and effective anti-freeze and protection measures:

1. Water meters, water pipes, faucets and other water facilities at home can be wrapped tightly with thermal insulation materials (glass fiber cloth, cotton and linen fabric, plastic foam, straw rope, etc.). The water supply facilities in the shade should be thickened and bound.

2. At night, the windows of corridors, kitchens, toilets and all shaded rooms should be closed to ensure that the indoor temperature is above zero degrees Celsius.

3. In severe cold weather, it is best to turn on the faucet slightly after using water at night, keep the faucet in a small dripping state, keep the tap water flowing in the water pipe, and prevent it from being frozen at night.

4. For water meter outside house and in the wells, remove the accumulated water in the well, ensure that there is no leakage in the well, make sure it is dry, and fill with sand, sawdust, etc. to the edge of the water meter. For water meters installed in the meter box, you can wrap it tightly with thermal insulation material, close the water meter box and cover, and plug the gap with old cotton fabric in the ventilated place.

5. Water supply facilities such as water pipes that are exposed outside can be covered with soil, sand, and wrapped with thermal insulation materials.

6. Users who use the roof water tank for secondary water supply should cover the top of the water tank, and wrap the upper and lower water inlet pipes and valves of the water tank with thermal insulation materials.

7. Do not forcibly open the frozen water meter, water pipe, valve and faucet. It is advisable to wrap the faucet with a hot towel first, then pour warm water to turn on the faucet, and slowly pour warm water along the faucet to make it unfreeze.
